You’ll walk on various surfaces, including pavements, river paths, walking trails, country lanes, park paths, and woodland. A good pair of comfortable walking shoes/boots with good ankle support is a must for the varied terrain, and it will be a huge benefit if you wear them before the big day!

    Duration
This event is not a race; everyone should be able to walk at a comfortable pace. The 55 km should take approximately 11 to 12 hours, but some walkers may take up to 13 hours.

How fit do I need to be?
The route distance is challenging but achievable for most people if they train well in advance. A training guide is available to help you prepare.

What will I need to carry?
We recommend carrying only the essentials, such as waterproofs, layers, water (a minimum of 2 litres), a mobile phone, and any necessary medication. Regular checkpoints will be available every 5 miles. Check the kit list to confirm everything you will need.

Ensure you have trained with your backpack, carrying everything necessary, so that you are accustomed to walking with your pack at full weight.

What support will there be along the route?
Team members will be spread along the route, with a back marker at the rear. The route will be available via a digital online map, and marshals will be positioned every 8 km and at any more complex sections. There will also be staffed rest stops along the route, where we will be available to provide assistance and plenty of encouragement. Refreshments, water refill stations, first aid support, and toilets will be provided at all rest stops.

    Kit List
Download our kit list, which you can check off when packing for the trek. We also have some top tips on how to find the best gear for you.

  • Is there an age requirement?
