The Seven Sisters hike is a popular hiking challenge in the UK that involves hiking 20 kilometres along some of the most beautiful coastline.

The challenge is physically demanding, and good fitness levels, appropriate gear, and preparation are essential for success.

Our team will look after you every step of the way. From support with training and fundraising to keeping you safe, well, and excited throughout the challenge, we will make this an experience you will cherish, be challenged by, and celebrate for a long time after.

If you have not taken part in a challenge like this before, it can be quite daunting.

There is no need to worry about anything as we’ll be on hand to support you every step of the way.

From the moment you register through your return after the challenge, we will be available to answer any questions you may have about your training, fundraising, preparation, and the challenge days themselves.

We will also connect you with other walkers via our WhatsApp group chat, welcome events, and training walks. Full details of all of these will be posted here and emailed to you.

On the challenge itself, our experienced team, leaders, medics, event team, and support vehicles will be with you at every stage of the journey. If you’ve got a problem or you’re not feeling well, then the team will be on hand to support you with this.

Costs
These can vary, but for a full package for 30 walkers, and depending on the package you require, the costs start from £395.00 per person.

Fundraising
Fundraising can be one of those things that can be quite daunting, and if you haven’t done it before, you may be unsure where to start.

What can you do to help?

• Get an online donation page set up asap.

• When you have set up your page, if you can make the first donation, this will always help and show your commitment to the event you are doing and the cause you are raising money for.

• Regularly update your page with exciting information and pictures about your training and fundraising. Do link your page to social media.

• If you have time, send everyone who has donated a personal thank you, maybe from a personal email address, sms, or even a call if you have time. Some of the best repeat donations have come because people have taken the time to do this. Some people have even written a personal letter or card!

What can your friends and family do to help?

• It is often difficult to ask close friends and family for donations, but more often than not, they will be delighted to help and really will want to support you.

• Do put a list together of fundraising activities that you think they will be interested in.

• Some may just wish to put money on your online donation page, but others may fancy a fundraising night out, like a quiz night, race night, or a dinner party.

• Make sure that if you do a fundraising event, you promote it in advance, through posters, emails, social media, or a good old-fashioned phone call!

• Do update your online fundraising page with exciting information and pictures about your fundraising event, and put photos if you can on social media. Make sure you get people's permission first.

• If you have time, send everyone who attended a personal thank you, maybe from a personal email address, sms, or even a call if you have time. Some of the best repeat donations have come because people have taken the time to do this. Some people have even written a personal letter or card!

Popular fundraising activities…

Cake Bake

• Get together to bake some cakes or biscuits and sell them to boost your fundraising.  

• Unless you have a trading license, you will also need to ask for suggested donations, rather than selling for a fixed price. Pick a good location, ideally where lots of people will pass throughout the duration of your cake sale.

• Remind people to bake cakes or ask local supermarkets who might like to sponsor the bake sale or make a donation of cakes or ingredients!

• Promote your cake sale and also promote how much was raised after the event.

Quiz night
A pub quiz is a great fundraiser.

Firstly, find a suitable venue. Promote it using event posters and do ask if you can leave a poster in the venue. Share the event on social media.

Tell people where to buy tickets. It’s worth selling tickets before the event as well as on the night itself, as you’ll know you’ve got at least some donations if the turnout isn’t what you expected. It sounds obvious, but make sure you mention where to get hold of tickets in all your promotional material. Get sponsorship/donated prizes.

Ask local restaurants to donate some prizes. Don’t forget to ask your venue- a free round of drinks is a prize everyone loves! Get some volunteers to help on the night.  You will need people to help with marking or the raffle.

Play host
Get people together by hosting a dinner party or barbecue and charge people for entry. Or ask people to donate what they would normally pay for a meal at a restaurant. 

What's your talent
You could hold a performance night for local talent. This could be for comedy or music. See if you can get extra support from local businesses, then sell as many tickets as you can to raise money. 

Style a new do or dress up or down day…
Restyle your hair or arrange a dress up or down, and ask for donations in return. If you’re feeling bold, dye your hair a wacky colour, get an unusual hairstyle, or even shave it all off - it's time to get creative.

Charity golf day
Are you a member of a golf club or know someone who is? If so, this is an easy way to raise some money.

To start with, choose a date that doesn’t clash with other things happening at your club.  Promote around the office, local pub, or clubhouse.  Do ask your colleagues and suppliers.

Ask teams for a set fee per person, which you can collect on the day or in advance.  It is worth asking the club for help with registration on the day if you have a lot of teams. On the day, run a longest drive or nearest the pin competition, a raffle or auction to boost your fundraising.  If you speak to the club pro, you may be able to get a prize from the golf club.

Please check with the golf club for information on how you can keep it safe, and be sure to work closely with the golf club pro to ensure their guidelines are adhered to.

Where does the challenge start and finish, and at what time?
The Seven Sisters Hike starts from Seaford Beach at 9.00 am and finishes at Eastbourne Beach at approximately 5.00 pm.

What does this event cost?
These can vary, but for a full package for 30 walkers, and depending on the package you require, the costs start from £395.00 per person.

Do I have to wear walking boots?
Yes, to participate in this event, you must wear walking boots, rather than trainers or trail shoes. Please ensure your walking boots are comfortable, fully waterproof, and you have worn them in, that is, walked in them during your training 3 or 4 times at least.

Are there toilets on the route?
As you will be spending the majority of your time on the cliff top, facilities will be limited. There is one cafe with loos and a few pubs along the route. Your leader and support team will be able to advise you of the locations on the route.

What level of fitness do I need to have for this challenge?
You will be walking for 6 hours, walking approximately 20 kilometres.

I have a medical condition. What should I do?
We strongly recommend that anyone who has a medical condition should seek approval from their GP / Consultant before signing up for a challenge.

When registering for the event, you are agreeing to be fit and healthy enough to take part. The Health and safety of all participants and members of staff are paramount to us.

Depending on the type and severity of your condition, we may require a letter from a medical professional stating that you are fit enough to undergo the activity.

Can I take part in the Seven Sisters Hike while pregnant?
Our guidance is that you shouldn't take part in the Seven Sisters Hike while pregnant.

What training do I need to do?
As you will be walking for a long time (6 hrs or more), getting comfortable with your boots and clothing is essential.

We all have busy lives, but try to get out walking at least 2-3 times a week, and if you can, practice walking up and down hills.

We will be setting up a Seven Sisters Hike WhatsApp group if you want to share, meet, or even walk with others before the challenge.

Also, if you are a member of a local gym, make use of the treadmill during the winter months, as this is a great way to prepare. We encourage you to build up to the challenge, and our team is on hand to help you with any advice you may need.

Which route will we be taking?

Will food and accommodation be provided?
Accommodation the night before or night after the challenge is not included, but lunch and snacks on the day of the challenge are provided.

How often are water top-ups during the hike?
Please come topped up with water at the start. We're able to meet our support vehicles at locations on the route for water top-ups and refreshments.

What happens if I get injured?
We will have carefully planned out this challenge to try and make sure, at all costs, that no one gets injured.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of group hiking, there may be injuries. To support you, we have a qualified first aider and mountain leader in the group, plus our support vehicles will be available if you need to be taken for additional medical attention.

It is your responsibility to make sure you have approval from your doctor to do this challenge, if needed.

How will I get to and back from the challenge?
You will travel to and from the challenge by train - London Victoria to Seaford and Eastbourne to London Victoria.

Can I extend my stay?
Yes absolutely. Just let us know when we speak to you after booking, and we will help you with return trains and accommodation booking where we can. Additional charges will apply.
